Faces of Transformation

Sculptural reflexions on identity, emotional archetypes, and human transformation.

Faces of transformation is a sculptural project that explores the emotional identities people adopt in response to fear, aproval, achievement, belonging, and self-protection.

Each mask represents an emotional archetype-an outward expression of inner patterns that often shape behavior without concious awareness.

Through sculpture, the project invites viewers to reflect on the distance between who we appear to be and who we truly are beneath the roles we perform.

The Birth of the Masks

This project began with a simple question:

How much of our daily behavior is authentic, and how much is performed?

As I explored themes of identity, vulnerability, and human transformation, the concept evolved into a series of emotional masks representing different internal states.

Each mask was sculpted by hand and developed through a process of observation, experimentation, and reflection.

The journey from concept to physical form unfolded through sculpting, molding, casting, and refinement.

From Concept to Form

The process began with the creation of a life cast that served as the structural foundation for the masks.

Using traditional sculptural techniques, a mold was created and transformed into a working form that allowed emotional expressions to emerge gradually through clay modeling and refinement.

Sculpting Emotional States

The goal was not caricature, but recognition—capturing emotions that many people experience yet rarely reveal openly.

The masks became visual metaphors for the internal narratives that influence behavior, decision-making, relationships, and self-perception.

Becoming the Mask

To understand how the forms communicated emotionally, prototypes were worn and photographed during development.

This stage allowed the work to move beyond sculpture and into human experience, revealing how posture, gaze, and context transform an object into a psychological presence.

The Masks in Practice

Faces of Transformation extended beyond the studio into real-world transformational work.

Developed for Synaxon Expansion, the masks became visual and experiential tools used to facilitate conversations around authenticity, self-awareness, emotional patterns, and personal growth.

By interacting with the masks, participants were invited to recognize the roles they perform, the identities they protect, and the possibilities that emerge when those layers are consciously examined.

Testimonial

These masks are much more than works of art — they become true mirrors. Whether with leaders or families in business, they become powerful catalysts for awareness in workshops and mentoring, regardless of the context. They invite people to feel deeply and immerse themselves in an authentic and transformative experience. Jimena’s art makes the invisible visible and carries reflection into everyday life, human relationships, and the emotional dimensions of work.

Reflection

Faces of Transformation became an exploration of transformation itself.

It asks what happens when we recognize the masks we wear, why we created them, and whether they still serve us.

Rather than offering answers, the work invites reflection on authenticity, emotional awareness, and the possibility of living more fully aligned with our true nature.

“Transformation begins when we recognize the masks we wear and remember who exists beneath them.”
